Directional microphone
For IBF Orthoptera a directional microphone is necessary to gather sounds of grasshoppers and store them in the internal storage unit of the smartphone.
Currently (in 2012), the head set adapters available for HTC 7 smartphones are not appropriate to connect directional microphones.
Stephan Meßlinger, University of Bayreuth, LS Experimentalphysik V found a technical solution to overcome this obstacle.
He modified commercial adapters by **** (see Connection diagram in relation to the brazing process)
