The activities to create and publish regional DTN lists started in 2012 as cooperation between the DiversityMobile/IBF project and GBOL. Since 2014 the initiative was part of the [https://www.gfbio.org/ German Federation for Biological Data] (=GFBio) project with involvement of the [https://www.naturkundemuseum-bw.de/ SMNS], [https://snsb.de/en/ SNSB] and [https://www.zfmk.de/ ZFMK]. Starting with 2021 there is a DWB user help desk with support by the [https://www.nfdi4biodiversity.org/ NFDI4Biodiversity consortium].
