		+	The Bavarian Natural History Collections (Staatliche Naturwissenschaftliche Sammlungen Bayerns, SNSB) are a research institution for natural history in Bavaria, directly assigned to the Bavarian Ministry of Science and Art. The Information Technology Center (SNSB IT Cen-ter, www.snsb.info) is the institutional repository for scientific data of the natural history collec-tions and museums belonging to the SNSB. Its major tasks focus on the management of bio- and geodiversity data using different kinds of information technological structures. It also comprises research activities in the field of biodiversity informatics and the implementation of generic open source information technology like easy-to-use working environments for han-dling scientific data.
