About "IBF Monitoring of Orthoptera" as Dataset for GBIF
Data Collection
The purpose of the data collection is described under IBF Orthoptera.
Data Project and Service
The data project "IBF Monitoring of Orthoptera" was established by Prof. Dr. Peter Poschlod and Harald Schott. It is part of the DFG funded IBF project with the aim to gain observational records of orthoptera in the field using the smart phone application DiversityMobile. The data are processed by Diversity Workbench components and made accessible via national and international portals. They mainly include single observational records and are supplemented with several ecological data and especially audio files of the specific sounds of grasshoppers and locusts. With completion of the research project, data will be technically managed by the long-term data repository at the SNSB IT Center of the Staatliche Naturwissenschaftliche Sammlungen Bayerns. Notices of errors of any kind are much appreciated by the participants of the project (for email check Contact).
